So here it is…the first blog post on the Content 10x website.
I’m not going to lie, it’s been a long time coming.
It’s funny because creating content is hardly something that I should find difficult.
I’m in the content business and spend all of my days, working with my team, planning and creating awesome content for my clients.
But, I guess that’s it. That is the problem.
A little bit like the chef who spends all of his or her time cooking up fabulous food only to arrive home and make a sandwich for themselves!
Clients come first...and I’m totally okay with that.
But...when I worked as a Management Consultant my colleague used to say (when talking about the work that we delivered for our clients), “we must remember to drink from our own champagne glass too” …cheesy isn’t it. But the notion of doing great for others but forgetting yourself is just sometimes the way it goes.
But is that really a good excuse for neglecting my own content?
Not really. And of course, there is also the desire to be awesome! The pressure of practicing what I preach and showcasing what I do.
But, one thing is for sure... when I create content for Content10x you can bet your bottom dollar that I will repurpose it. In fact, I’ll repurpose the hell out of it!
But what content should I focus on?
So I’ve been pondering what type of content to focus on as my primary format.
I always say to my clients that it’s good, at least in the early days, to have ONE core content channel/format to focus on.
So what I mean by that is to focus on either podcasting, blogging, or creating video. In other words, do you want to talk, write, or be in front of the camera?
So, after giving this some careful thought, I have made the decision to launch a podcast!
Why a podcast?
I've had a lot of encouragement to start a podcast.
Do a podcast, they said...
It'll be great, they said...
One things is for sure, launching a podcast is a lot more complicated than launching a blog! Even though I've tried to keep things as simple as possible, there's no escaping the fact that you need at least some equipment and then there's the techie side of it all.
But, despite all of that I am dead set on starting a podcast. Why?
Firstly, because it’s new ground for me. I’ve written a lot of blog posts and I’ve filmed a lot of videos, but I've never recorded a podcast. So it’s a chance to hone some new skills.
Secondly, currently the majority of my clients are podcasters and we are working with them every day to repurpose their podcast episodes. So having my own podcast gives me the opportunity to learn more about my clients and stand in their shoes.
Lastly, because I really believe that podcasts offer an opportunity like no other to really connect with your audience. This really appeals to me. I don’t just want to grow my audience...
I want to put content repurposing at the forefront of all content creation strategies & create a content repurposing movement!
I will of course create other content. I will create blog posts and video too, but podcast episodes will be my main focus.
What to expect from the podcast?
The Content 10x podcast is going to be all about....you guessed it... content repurposing.
I’m going to share tips, tricks, ideas and strategies for repurposing your content.
It will be about maximizing the value and the reach of every single piece of content that you create.
Episodes will be bite-sized - around about 10 minutes - and will be mainly solo episodes with the occasional longer episode where I invite a guest.
I’m currently planning the podcast and getting ready for the big launch.
Exciting times are ahead!
I will of course keep you updated on the blog, and please also follow me on social media - all of the links are at the bottom of this page.
